Summation of the Fourier Series of Orthogonal Functions

This book is a collection of various of the author's work, from 1928 to 1954, on the theory of the series of orthogonal functions. Most of these results have been previously publised in various periodicals of mathematics.

The book is devoted to the theory of the summation of the series of orthogonal functions. there are two modes of summability: one of these is the ordinary summability of the series - convergence, Cesars summability, Riesz summability, etc. The other is the absolute summability.

Chapters 3-6 are concerned with the absolute summabilitiy of the fourier (trigonometrical) series as well as their conjugate series. An account of the ordinary summability of the series of orthogonal functions can be found in chapters 1,2 and 7. Chapter 1 contains a discussion on the series of orthogonal functions in a finite interval. In chapter 7 an account is given of the series of ultraspherical functions, so called Laplace series.
